E-bike in winter: keeping the battery fit

2026-05-12 5 min read

Lithium batteries temporarily lose range in the cold. That is normal and not a defect. The key is to avoid charging the battery in freezing cold and to store it cool but not frosty during longer breaks.

Only take the battery out of your warm home shortly before riding and put it on the bike then. That way you start the day with the full usable capacity.

The contacts appreciate a little care too. Keep them clean and dry and have the wiring checked during the service. That keeps your e-bike reliable all year round.
